FAQ

How should I prepare for the session?

Imagine you are attending an important audition, this will be your connection to Casting Directors and many other industry professionals. Make sure you feel fresh on the day. Get a good sleep the night before and avoid alcohol. Make sure your hair is neat and clothes are ironed. Please bring a variety of tops, simple necklines work best so not to distract from your face. Also avoid bold patterns. Be on time! I only book two sessions per day to allow for comfortable sessions but I cannot make up for lost time. Feeling happy, in control and not rushed will be far more beneficial to your final headshots. Email a link to your Spotlight page or other online links so I have a clear idea of your look. Also, examples of particular styles you like can be useful. We can access any online profiles from here to save you bringing laptops or extra items.

What should I wear?

Approx 4 tops is usually best. I find earth tones, neutral and pastel colours work well for the theatrical headshots and brighter colours or something with more 'pop' are great for the lighter/commercial looks. I like to shoot both styles during our session to give you options.

  • Tops with simple necklines work well. Something elegant/feminine works well for girls. Showing skin is fine but we keep it tasteful. Satin material is good as it doesn’t add bulk but equally t-shirts or anything well fitted looks good on camera.

  • Knitwear or something with texture can be good for lifestyle and portraits which I’m always happy to shoot during a session in addition to headshots. It can give some thing extra to you portfolio as well.

  • Jackets are great too. A leather jacket or a blazer/something fitted work well

Should I wear make up?

It’s important to look natural in your headshots, I recommend to feel your best but stay honest to your look. Lip balm is fine but definitely avoid lip gloss and heavy mascara. You can always apply more makeup so better to start minimal.

Anything else I should think of?

Just look forward to it. Bring some clothes you like and have an idea of what you would like to achieve. I guarantee you will feel at ease and enjoy it, every session I’ve shot has been full of chatting and laughter. We’ll probably know a fair amount about each other by the end and it’s feeling comfortable that will get the best headshots.

Additional Information

Every detail is key to producing the best headshots and I am aware of this throughout every session. Whether it is editing the photos afterwards or the small touches during the shoot, my aim is to ensure nothing is missed.

In terms of editing, I keep retouching to a minimum as Casting Directors and Agents prefer that your headshot is true to your natural look. I recreate lighting similar to that used on film & TV and can remove any unnecessary distractions or blemishes. To book a session, please look at the Rates and Contact the studio with any questions
